Paintball

Paintball

Paintball (English paintball, paint – “paint” and ball – “ball”) – a team game using a hand-held pneumatic weapon (called markers), shooting gelatin capsules with paint that break when hit against an obstacle, and color it.

Types of paintball:

sports paintball

– is carried out on a fence with a rectangular surface fenced with a protective net (clay-sand, grass or earth) and inflatable shelters of various shapes symmetrically located on the site. A variety of sports paintball – X-ball, featuring greater speed and entertainment, which are achieved through the use of tricks from basketball, hockey, football;

tactical (“forest”) paintball

– is used either to train security officers (training direction), or as entertainment (recreational direction or recreational paintball). It is carried out in the forest, in the field or in unfinished (or specially erected) structures of various kinds.

Paintball is the invention of Nelson Paint.

Paintball balls were invented in the 1950s by the American Nelson Paint, but not for the game. Coloring shells were used in forestry and agriculture until 1976 – it was then that Charles Gaines (writer) and Joseph Vineble (stockbroker), who returned from an African safari, decided to diversify their leisure “hunting” for each other. To use for new fun, the marker of the firm Nelson Paint (Nelspot 007) was suggested by George Butler, who joined the company in a few months. The first paintball team was assembled in 1981. There is another version, claiming that the paintball marker was created on the basis of previously classified training weapons used in the US Army to train servicemen for combat operations of various kinds.

In Russia, paintball appeared in 1996.

Indeed, it was in 1996 that paintball was recognized in Russia as one of the sports, and the Russian Paintball Federation was formed. But the aforementioned game appeared on the territory of the country back in 1992, and 2 years later clubs for fans of this game were organized in many large cities of the country, and paintball associations were formed.

At first paintball markers were loaded with shells with oil paint.

This is indeed so. Because wash off the “wounds” was worth considerable work – had to use a variety of solvents, and in considerable quantities. The process of removing paint stains from the body and clothing of players was later called “turpentine parties.”

Shells in paintball are soft and slow, because the presence of a mask is not necessary.

Absolutely mistaken opinion! Paintball balls on a gelatinous basis are filled with paint, made on the basis of food dyes, because they are harmless and quite soft. However, even at a relatively low flight speed (100 m / s) they can cause harm if they get into the eyes. Therefore, a special mask is included in the number of equipment, the presence of which each player is strictly and strictly controlled by the judges.

In sport paintball, you can not use markers with electronic selection of shooting modes.

Markers of this kind can be used if they are fixed in tournament mode, and the player does not have the opportunity during the competition to switch “weapons” to another mode.

Throughout the season, a player does not have the right to move from one team to another.

This is indeed so. If the name of the same player appears in different teams or he moved to another league without permission – all the results of the team in which such a player was staying will be canceled. However, the transition to a team playing in a higher (or lower) league is still possible provided that all the necessary formalities are met (the consent of the captains of both teams and the authorized paintball federation has been obtained, the lists of players have been changed, etc.).It should be noted that the transition must be made before three quarters of the tournaments in this series are held.

The team taking part in paintball tournaments has only one team.

Not necessary. In some countries the team can participate in the tournament with two or even three compositions having the same name. In addition, before the first tournament, the team must inform the organizers of the competition about its overall structure.

When a team moves to the lower league for some reason, it loses part of the earned points.

Wrong opinion. The team loses part of the earned points when going to a higher level (for example, from the second league to the first or from the first league to the higher one). If such a transition occurs after ¼ of the tournaments in this series – the team retains only 20% of earned points, after 2/4 of tournaments – 40%, and after ¾ of tournaments – 60%. However, in the event that the team moves, for example, from the higher league to the first, it saves all the points earned during the competitions in this season.

The main task of players in paintball is to capture the enemy flag and protect their banner from capture.

This is the most common version of the game. However, there are many different paintball scenarios, each of which assumes certain actions of the players. For example, when playing the scenario “quads” the task of the players of one team is to hit all the opponents (the option is the “ten” strategy: 10 players participate in the game, each of them has 10 balls in the marker), and in Top Gun “) although two teams compete – each plays for himself, as the winner is declared the last” survivor “. In the scripts “invader-defender” and “partisans” one of the teams holds a circular defense (in the first case – in the fortress, in the second – in the forest), and the second tries with all his strength to break the resistance of the enemy. Scenarios “release of hostages” and “capture of prisoners” require participants to compete with certain actions aimed at capturing (releasing) players who play the role of prisoners (or hostages). Playing the scenario of “escort” paintball players of one team should conduct on the playing field “VIP-persona” (a player dressed in a bright waistcoat), with all his might to save him from defeats. The task of their rivals, who have previously settled in ambushes on the playing field – to prevent this. “Duel” involves a one-on-one battle – players who have one goal each, approach the barrier and shoot at the team, demonstrating their accuracy.

The number of players in the paintball teams participating in the competition is always the same.

No, the number of contestants depends on the chosen scenario. For example, in “escort” the team performing the role of “terrorists” is one-third less than the “accompanying” team. Unequal composition and in the teams playing the script “invader – defender”.

Paintball

Paintball players are usually provided with a large number of charges (at least 200).

Most often it is really so. However, in some cases the number of shells is sharply limited. For example, if you play the scenario “ten” – in the marker, each player has only 10 balls, and the participants in the “duel” scenario are equipped with a single projectile.

In sports and tactical paintball, the players’ clothes are different.

Not only the form (in tactical paintball – camouflage, in sports – pants and jersey), but the equipment for different types of this game is different. First, markers (consisting of a container for balls filled with a balloon gas and the marker itself) in tactical paintball use heavier and quick-firing. Secondly, pouches for wearing tubes (ie containers with spare balls) are discharge vests in tactical paintball, and in the sports – a special belt (“harnes”).Thirdly, the use of portable radio stations, as well as smoke grenades and various kinds of pyrotechnics is allowed only in tactical and recreational paintball, and is strictly prohibited in sports.

Paintball competitions are held according to standardized rules.

Not necessary. For example, in some regions of Russia, in particular in St. Petersburg, the game of paintball is conducted according to slightly modified rules. The main difference between the “northern version” and the generally accepted one is that they do not consider getting into objects that the player holds in their hands (for example, weapons) for defeat.

Shooting at point blank in paintball is prohibited.

This is indeed so. The player who caught the enemy off guard simply says “out!”, And his opponent raises his hand, admitting himself defeated.

The best hideout on the paintball court is the largest in size.

This kind of shelter can really provide a good protection, but prevents paintball players from viewing the field and watching the development of the game. As a result, players “sitting in ambush”, sometimes find themselves under fire from the enemy, who made an unexpected maneuver. Therefore, it is best to choose a shelter, which will serve not only as a safe haven, but also provide a good overview and the ability to shoot in any direction. It should be noted that the position can not be too close to the enemy, and should allow the player to move behind her.

Look out for shelter should be as rare as possible, so that the opponent had a minimum chance of getting into your head.

Experienced players claim that the winner is the one who can correctly assess the alignment of forces on the site and anticipate the further actions of rivals. And in order to do this, be sure to look around, and not once. And do not concentrate on one goal, but try to get as much information about everything that happens around.

It is not worth leaving a good shelter.

Wrong opinion. Much depends on the strategy and tactics of the game (for example, your team can move from defense to offense), as well as the position of the enemy on the site.

It is best to shoot single shots from a long distance or to aim at running players.

This is not true. First, it should be borne in mind that the marker, unlike a sniper rifle, is not suitable for long-range aiming. Therefore it is better to shoot not with single shots, but with bursts and with not very long distance. However, at the same time, it should be remembered that it is too close to approach the enemy, because in this case there is a high probability of being under fire. Secondly, the speed of flying balls is not so great, so you need to aim not at the running player, but in front of him or in the place where he keeps his way – only in this case your shots will be effective. And, finally, it is with the help of multiple shots that you can create the appearance of an attack in one place, while the present offensive will be conducted in another part of the site.

The more experienced the players – the less they communicate with each other.

Wrong opinion. Try to observe silence only beginners, and experienced players pass on information to each other, ask for help, etc. The only reason that a player can remain silent is to sit in ambush, and only so long as the opponent does not find him.

Paintball is just one type of interesting entertainment.

When it comes to sports or recreation (recreational) paintball, where the game is played with standard equipment – it really is. However, in addition to sporting, there is also a so-called tactical or training paintball used to train police and special forces soldiers in correct and coordinated actions during various operations (rescue, anti-terrorism, etc.).For training, markers similar to real firearms by type and weight are used, and special areas are created or multi-level structures are built. The first such training began to be conducted in Israel (in the school of the fight against terror Counter Terror Warfare School) and in America. Since 1996, paintball began to be used in Russia, during training of police officers (OMSN “Lynx”), as well as fighters of anti-terrorist groups (“Alpha” and “Vympel”).

Paintball is a game that promotes war.

No. The game, sometimes unfolding according to the scenarios of various battles and military campaigns, is aimed only at glorifying the courage and heroism of the participants in the hostilities, and also allowing people to feel their importance as a person and to realize the value of human life.

Children do not play paintball.

Wrong opinion. In some countries (with the permission of the parents and in the presence of suitable equipment), children aged 6-12 years sometimes appear on the paintball courts. This game not only allows them to fully demonstrate their physical abilities, but also instills respect for the defenders of the homeland, and teaches to treat lesions only as a useful experience.

Players who have crossed the forty-year mark in paintball are the least – basically this kind of sport attracts young people.

Yes, according to statistics, the age of the majority of players in paintball is 12-17 years. However, people, wise with life experience, also show interest in this sport. At least, they are almost 3 times more than players 35-44 years of age.

Paintball is extremely traumatic.

Absolutely mistaken opinion. Protective equipment, safe and relatively slow shells, rules that prohibit scuffles and shooting from close range make paintball one of the safest sports. According to statistics, injuries during paintball are two times less than in bowling and archery, and almost 3 times less than, for example, in golf.

Paintball

Paintball is a purely masculine occupation in which a woman never succeeds.

No, women also play paintball, although, according to statistics, the fair sex in this sport is 2 times less than men. However, if the beautiful ladies appear on the field, they show themselves only from the best side, showing cunning and caution, stealth and accuracy. The only thing they are inferior to men in this game – so it’s in the number of balls released, and then only because they prefer to shoot for sure, single-shot shots, not bursts. Well manifested themselves in women and in the fight against superior enemy forces, even first appeared on the paintball court.

People who play paintball are very disciplined, and they know the tactics and strategy of fighting.

This is not true. Firstly, people who play paintball, neither high discipline, nor the ability to obey orders unquestioningly do not differ – both in the game and in ordinary life. Secondly, the military tactic for paintball is not suitable, most often because it involves the participation in a particular maneuver of a group of well-trained and disciplined fighters, and paintballers, as already said, are not such. Therefore, for actions on the paintball court, a special tactic and strategy is developed, taking into account all the features of this game of its participants.

Paintball generates aggression in the souls of the players, which they often show in everyday life.

Absolutely mistaken opinion. After all, paintball is actually a modified version of the game in the spots, and achieve victory over the opponent is not at the expense of aggression, but only through the manifestation of ingenuity and skill. Moreover – many players claim that paintball helps to relieve stress and internal tension. After all, in the process of this game in the human body, adrenaline is produced, provoking the release of serotonin and dopamine – antidepressants, which exert a relaxing effect on the nervous system.

Playing paintball, you can find skills in handling firearms.

Paintball markers really resemble firearms – both in appearance and in some peculiarities of the structure. However, shooting in paintball is very different from working with a real firearm (weight is less, the return is not so strong, the projectiles are flying much slower, etc.). And although there are models that simulate real weapons in almost all (so-called tactical markers), they are not used in paintball, but are used only for special training, for example, when training policemen.

Paintball is very expensive.

Much depends on which category of paintball you prefer. The most expensive is sports paintball, for which you need special equipment, a well-equipped playground and plenty of balls (in 3 minutes one player shoots about 2000 balls, and you also need to train). Much smaller costs are coming to the person who chose the so-called tactical paintball, somewhat resembling Counter Strike and conducted in the forest, in unfinished buildings, etc. According to statistics, for a day a player in tactical paintball can spend about 200-300 balls at least, that is, almost 6 times less than during the game of sports paintball. The cost of balls can be about 3-6 cents per piece, therefore, for 200 balls will have to pay from $ 6 to $ 12. To this should be added the cost of renting equipment (form, mask, marker, vest), which will be from $ 5 to $ 10 for a game day. This amount includes the services of a coach and a judge, as well as technical support for the game (for example, filling cylinders). As a result, your costs will be $ 11 to $ 22 per game day, and this is not such a large amount.
