The unique brand Lanvin has existed for more than 120 years. It is characterized by a pronounced French style, quality products are deprived of unnecessary frills. Zhanna Lanvin was born in 1867 in Paris. The young woman understood that she was capable of more than just being a milliner.

In 1890, Jeanne opened her own workshop for the creation of women’s hats. It was then an important and inalienable element of women’s clothing. This was the starting point for the Fashion House. After all, soon the enterprising mistress realized that it was necessary to develop and began to sew the perfect in style and cut women’s clothes.

Thanks to this, Zhanna Lanvin managed to become the world’s first recognized female designer. So, for example, the dress she created in 1913 flying to an ankle with an original design and accessories was enthusiastically accepted by all rich women of fashion. The brand “Lanvin” was characterized by a floral pattern of fabric, fine lines and French elegance. Dresses from Zhanna Lanvin testified to belonging to the highest common.

The customers of the fashion designer were opera singers, film actresses and representatives of noble families. In the fashion house “Lanvin”, the oldest in France, they sew suits of the legend of the Parisian stage Cecil Sorel and Iv├ín Prantan. In this case, actresses use brand products in everyday life. The house manages to win and the higher society – in clothes from Lanvin appear on weddings, secular celebrations and simply receptions.

Jeanne was the first who invented a fashion for children. Before her, dresses similar to those for adults were sewn for girls, but only in smaller sizes. Lanvin has made unique outfits for children and teenagers. Even adult women of fashion began to customize such clothes to their figure. As a result, Jeanne began to cover whole families – both children and their mothers. A muse was the daughter of the fashion designer Marie-Blanc, eventually even appeared brand name brand – the silhouette of the lady who leads the girl’s hand.

In 1920, Jeanne Lanvin creates a whole world for her clients. In Paris she opens the Lanvin Decoration store together with Albert Arman Rato. The designer actively participates in the promotion of other French fashion houses, she is a welcome guest at national and international shows. And in 1926, the activities of Zhanna Lanvin was awarded the Order of the Legion of Honor.

In the same year 1926, Lanvin released the men’s clothing line, she became a model of the classical style. And its first buyer was the writer Edmond Rostand, the literary “father” of Cyrano de Bergerac.

Jeanne Lahvin created not just a style, but a whole world of elegance and elegance. She loved art, surrounded herself with talents and artists. Jeanne wanted her customers to be surrounded by an unusual environment, which is why she paid attention even to the interior design of her shops and hotel. Together with Albert Arman Rato, using the art deco motifs, the interior of boutiques was developed.

There were a lot of gold colors in the design, as well as white and black. And the blue color is generally present everywhere. Jeanne paints her room in a unique soft blue color with a bright purple tint, and in clothes she prefers blue shades.

In 1925 the brand introduced its perfume line. The first loud success came with My Sin. A prospective perfumer Andre Fraiss comes to the company, a whole laboratory opens. Lanvin creates a whole bunch of fragrances – Apris le Sport, Cross-Country. All of them are very popular. But the real sensation was the fragrance Arpege, which was dedicated to the daughter of Jeanne. In 80 years there was also a male version of these spirits. Even the design of the bottle was carefully thought through – it was developed personally by Armand Rato.

The famous black ball, decorated with a picture by Paul Iribe, “gave women what music gives to the world.” All subsequent flavors, like toilet water, creams, powders, blushers and oils were successful. Zhanna Lanvin cooperates with Baccarat in the production of new bottles, with Sevres Manufactory – in creating new color scales, and with Christophe coming up with new suitcases.

In 1939, when the world froze in anticipation of war, Jeanne releases the first fragrance for Crescendo men. The next similar perfume came out already in 1946, when the ancestor of the brand died. Her successor was a daughter, Marie Blanche de Polignac. She retained the style of Lanvin – elegant, truly French and elegant.

Despite all the changes in fashion, the designers did not profess conservatism, but inscribed the popular elements into the already created style. From 1950 to 1963 the main designer of women’s clothing pret-a-porter was Anthony Canovi del Castillo. And the clothes of Haute Couture in 1964-1984 were created by Jules-Francois Krae. But the perfume line begins to fade away – high-quality perfume has lost its charm and is no longer so successful.

In 1990, the Lanvine Fashion House was gradually being absorbed by the cosmetic giant L’Oreal. In 1996, this company bought up all 100% of the shares, setting an ambitious goal to restore the glorious brand to its former popularity of the early twentieth century. In 2001, the House was managed by a group of Thai investors Shaw-Lan Wang, they appointed a creative designer Israeli fashion designer Albert Elbaz. He set out to combine past traditions with modern trends. Elbaz created an actual image of a Parisian woman – fashionable and sensual. Coats with shiny inserts and rhinestones, became cult.

So the designer paid tribute to the Parisian fashion and heritage of Jeanne Lanvin. Now the handwriting of the master is recognized in each collection. The same principles are being followed all those characteristic of the House – disarming simplicity and elegance. The designer was able to update the image of gentle femininity and at the same time preserve the tradition of art deco graphics, so valued in Lanvin. Already for 4 years of his work, Elbaz returned the brand to its former glory, and among the main admirers of the brand are actresses Natalie Portman, Keith Blanchett and Chloe Sevigny.

“Lanvin” does not forget about its history – in 2006 the world saw the book “Interior and High Fashion, the work of Armand Albert Rato for Jeanne Lanvin, a new art deco.” And the following year appeared the publication “Lanvin”, which tells about the style that created Zhanna Lanvin and continues Albert Elbaz. In 2008, Lanvin House took part in the exhibition at the Museum of Natural History in Paris. The company introduced headwear, created by its ancestor, and perfume bottles developed by it, encrusted with pearls.

Lanvin participated in the exhibition in the Parisian Museum of Fashion. The brand showed as many as 170 models of clothes and 200 accessories, as well as its fragrances and cosmetics. The exposition of the glorious brand showed the connection between modern architecture and modernism in clothes, it was shown how the traditions of Russian, African and Japanese culture influenced designers. There were presented here works of Zhanna Lanvin herself – sketches and bottles of perfume.
