Salo did not take root only in the East, and that, because it quickly spoiled in the heat. Today’s fashion has introduced a standard of thinness, so low-calorie diets became popular, but fats, especially animals, instantly fell into the black list.


This led to the fact that fat has lost its former popularity, the same product quickly spread myths. Let’s consider in this article their veracity.

As a result, it is not surprising that the biological activity of fat is 5 times higher than the oil. So the consumption of fat in the winter will give the body the vitamins and substances necessary for maintaining the tone, strength and immunity.


The fat contains a lethal dose of cholesterol.

Society has become infected with fear of cholesterol, looking for it even in vegetable oil, in which it can not be by definition. Naturally, it is contained in fat, but there is little cholesterol, in cow’s oil – even more. And in fact, there is nothing terrible in the fact that the body will get cholesterol.A mistake will be to think that he will immediately begin to be deposited on the walls of the vessels, leading to atherosclerosis. It is not true! Doctors have long proven that it’s not about how much cholesterol has been ingested, but about how it is exchanged within a person. By itself, cholesterol can perfectly synthesize in the body, even if there is nothing at all. By the way, the acids of the vitamin F group just very well release the vessels from the deposits. So a small piece of fat not only does not break the balance of cholesterol, but helps fight its negative impact. And who said that cholesterol is not needed at all? It is useful in the creation of lymphocytes and macrophages that provide immunity, as well as help the work of the brain, in which the proportion of cholesterol reaches 2%.

Only vegetable fat is good for health.

This is not true, and the evidence is provided by studies that were conducted in Massachusetts during the 20th century. It turned out that the most healthy and athletic people are those who use both vegetable and animal fats. The share of fats daily should account for about 30% of all calories, and it is important that this is not the percentage of food eaten, but the fraction of the energy received. As a result, it will be enough to have 60-80 grams of fats a day, and only one-third of them are vegetable. For humans it is necessary to obtain 60% of monounsaturated acids, 30% saturated and 10% polyunsaturated. Just such a combination is observed in olive, peanut butter, and also in fat. So do not be afraid to fry potatoes on fat, it’s even more useful than using many vegetable oils.

Salo is best not to fry, as it loses its qualities and becomes harmful.

Indeed, when frying, lard loses some of its properties, acquiring in place carcinogens and toxins.
