Fast food

(from English fast food – fast food) has long become an integral part of the modern world. Fast food existed in ancient times. Even in antiquity, fast food was very popular.

In the late 1940’s, the “White Castle” began to appear competitors. The most serious of them was a young company, McDonald’s. It all began very modestly: two brothers Dick and Mac McDonald’s, who traded in a small barbecue restaurant for Californian motorists, decided to switch to the production of hamburgers. In 1948, they managed to do it, and revenues increased dramatically.

In 1954, a traveling salesman Ray Crock met them, who suggested opening an institution all over the country under the same brand. The brothers agreed, and things went well. In 1956 there were 14 McDonald’s restaurants in the USA, 228 in 1960, 1,000 in 1968, 3076 in 1975, 6263 in 1980, 8300 in 1984, and 11800 in 1990.

Now the corporation “McDonald’s” has more than 30,000 restaurants in 119 countries, while the “White Castle” has about 380 restaurants in the US. However, in recent years, the mighty “McDonald’s” began to experience problems. After the company of fighters for a healthy diet, calling for a boycott of fast food, sales in the US and other developed countries began to decline, some restaurants even had to close.

According to scientists studying the influence of this food on the human body, excessive consumption of the fats and sugar contained in it, leads to real chemical dependence, like narcotic. That is, a constant visit to such snack bars causes the same painful dependence as smoking or drug use. The hobby for hamburgers, cola and fried potatoes rather quickly leads to a change in the chemical processes in the human brain, which most often happens with cocaine or heroin addiction. In favor of this theory speaks and the fact that fans of fast food is very difficult, and sometimes it is simply unrealistic to return to normal food and sit on a strict diet. They experience real “breaking”, similar to those from which sufferers who wish to be cured addicts.
