Confidence, calmness and restraint of the Slovenes are noticeable from the very first glance. Although it is very difficult to compare with the beauty that is inherent in the cities and houses of Slovenia.
The special style and architecture that builders adhere to, speaks of the rich inner world of these people, of their broad soul. The restraint of the Slovenes is similar to the stiffness of the English, in the guise of which one can see the self-confidence and one’s own strength.
Slovenia is primarily a strong society, which is formed at the expense of strong and friendly families. However, even in family relations, Slovenes differ from all other peoples. Love for the family of each nationality is expressed in different ways and has a different form.
Slovenes also clearly share personal life, and social, so they never mix one with another. Family – these are people with whom you can share your sorrows and joys, problems and bright events in life. However, for a wide range of people, everything that happens in the family remains a big secret.
Slovenes will never tolerate what is happening in their family for discussion. This is correct on the one hand, because in some cases this behavior helps to avoid a lot of problems and, to a large extent, that all family personal matters will be discussed everywhere.
On the other hand, sometimes there is simply a need to share with your stranger your concerns, because it helps to get rid of the cargo that crushes the person.
For the Slovenes, the most humiliating thing is that someone can pay for it in a restaurant or cafe. This can not even be offered, because even married couples sometimes pay separately and a woman will never allow her to pay for it.
There are exceptions when a woman does not work and is engaged in the upbringing of children. However, women spend very little time on parental leave and quickly return to their work duties.
There are very few housekeepers in Slovenia, because every person is used to the fact that he earns his living.
The Slovenian family also does not accept feelings, it is possible only between the spouses alone, but not in the presence of all family members. With all relatives it is accepted to greet only for the hand, there are no hugs and kisses, even if the relatives did not see each other for a very long time.
Despite such a dry greeting, the Slovenes spend a lot of time talking with their close relatives, sharing the latest events in the life of everyone and the achievements of their children.
The streets of Slovenia are always empty in the evenings, because Slovenes spend their evenings only with their family and all very early go to bed. A measured, calm and unhurried way of life helps the Slovenians rid themselves of many of the stresses that people face, always in a hurry to do everything and do everything in a short time.
However, despite the fact that the Slovenes seem dry and boring, in reality it is just a manifestation of their independence. Young people start working very early to become financially independent from their parents as soon as possible. Slovenes are very hardworking and their children are also taught to work hard and work.
If you pay attention to how the Slovenes celebrate their holidays, then you can just get lost, because on holidays a completely different side of these people opens. You can see how Slovenians are soaked in the spirit of the holiday itself, they open up and become very interesting and funny people.
All holidays are held according to national traditions, although in some places these traditions are gradually beginning to change and some of them are not even applied at all.
One of the brightest and favorite for everyone holiday is the New Year or Christmas. Slovenes have very interesting customs for the celebration of Christmas and New Year.In every house, Christmas is a mandatory Christmas tree and creches, which are miniature figurines depicting the birth scenes of Christ.
In the evening before Christmas, all family members gather together to go out into the yard and walk around the house with a lit censer and holy water. Then the action goes to the house itself, where each corner is treated and sprinkled all with holy water.
Also the owner of the house should sprinkle each member of the family with holy water using the twig of the New Year tree. After the house is bypassed, you can proceed directly to the celebration of Christmas. This practice is used in almost all Slovenian families and is very important for the whole family.
On this holiday the whole family in full strength is always going to get a drop of their blessing from the owner of the house on Christ’s birthday.
The tradition of decorating a Christmas tree for the whole world is already very old. In some countries, in addition to decorating a Christmas tree in the house, they also weave wreaths of Christmas tree branches, decorate houses with these wreaths and bright beautiful ribbons, in order to make the house festive.
On the entrance doors of the house it is customary in Slovenia to also hang spruce wreaths and bells that can greet guests with iridescent bells. New Year and Christmas – a holiday for all people, and not only children, but adults themselves are waiting for this holiday and the fulfillment of all desires.
Everybody expects this miracle from this holiday. Slovenes also do not depart from the rules and always prepare gifts for the holiday, and they look forward to the moment when they will present a gift.
However, after the holidays, the weekdays come again, and again you can see the calm Slovenes, who are engaged in their own business. These people can relax for a short time and become as simple people as everyone else, but at other times they are busy with their worries and problems.
Work, children, family – the main thing for Slovenes in life. As for entertainment and recreation, all this should be done in the circle of his family and with his close people they think.
