Amulet. Myths about amulets

Amulet (from Latin amuletum – “giving power”) is an object that is most often worn on the body and protects a person from disasters, and also brings happiness.

In ancient times, it was believed that wearing a body of teeth or the claws of dead animals can help the hunter get some of their strength, and some minerals, plants (sandalwood, garlic, incense) or stones (pearls, amber, rock crystal) can protect from the effects of evil entities.

Also, amulets were hung in homes, in cribs, on various household items, etc. Somewhat later, the protective properties of steel were attributed to some metals, both colored (copper, brass), and noble (silver, gold).

Nodes are one of the varieties of amulets.

In the old days, an amulet in the form of a knot (Nauz), made of leather or woolen threads, was often used by Gentile Slavs to protect against various disasters. And to enhance the impact of the nazniki and naznitsy (people professionally engaged in the manufacture of Nauka) woven into the nodes of various kinds of symbolic objects (stones, animal or bird figurines, carved from wood or made of metal, images of weapons or tools, etc.).

Many people used amulets. For example, in Ancient Egypt the most significant symbol was ankh (“knot of life”, “bow of life”) – a cross crowned with a loop. He was depicted on the walls of the temples (as in itself, and in the hands of the gods or pharaohs), symbolized life and performed a protective function. Also the amulets were knots “bant sa” – one of the attributes of the goddess Tueris, and “theta” (“the blood of Isis”).

The ancient Greeks gave knots the ability to prevent anything, because, for example, to facilitate childbirth on clothes and in the house of the woman in childbirth untied all knots (in addition, all household members were forbidden to take poses with crossed legs or hands).

In Tibet and Mongolia, in order to protect themselves from the evil eye, they tie the so-called “endless knot”, moreover, which is the symbol of the acquisition of the Original Wisdom. Such a node, called a “knot of happiness” is considered an amulet that brings good luck and protects from all bad things in China. In many countries, knots were often used as an element of love magic.

It is best to choose precious and semiprecious stones as an amulet.

If you are going to seek help from a knowledgeable person of this type, you can really give preference to stones. And it is desirable to ask a specialist beforehand which stone should be preferred personally to you. After all, only those who were born under the sign of Libra, you can choose any stone you like – no stone can harm the representative of this sign, but there is not much help from the amulet. But people born under other signs of the Zodiac should be very choosy when choosing a precious or semiprecious stone for both an amulet and an ordinary decoration. At the same time, it is taken into account the exact day the person was born. For example, Aries born in the period from 21 to 31 March is better to give preference to agate, hematite, rock crystal, from 1 to 11 April – heliotrope, pearl, coral, amber, from April 12 to 20 – diamond, garnet, sapphire. It also matters what kind of impact the amulet will be “tuned” (from the slander it is well protected by topaz and sapphire, it protects agate and pearls from deceit, turquoise contributes to the increase of money, etc.) and to whom it is intended. For example, in no case can men be used as an amulet of pearls, as this will ensure their weakness and vulnerability, and the bride presented to the wedding pearl necklace will bring a lot of problems in family life, in particular, can cause aggression on the part of the spouse. If you plan to “charge” the amulet yourself, but do not have any experience with stones – it is better to choose a different object.

The amulet can be any shape.

According to experts, ring, round and cylindrical objects (rings, pendants, especially those made from single crystals such as diamonds) are best suited for this purpose, as they are easily “saturated” with the energy information program and come into contact with the energy of the owner (with prolonged wearing).

Many different amulets are sold in stores.

It remains only to choose the one that most like it – and you are protected. This is not quite true. Talismans and amulets, sold in stores, are just billets that are very weak without activation (certain magical rites). In fact, in this case, the force of the influence of a thing depends only on how much its owner believes in it. In the event that the object combines metals and precious or semiprecious stones, suitable for this person by the sign of the Zodiac and astrological indicators – the effect of the amulet increases. But it should be remembered that only after the ritual performed by a professional you can get at your disposal a really effective object-amulet, and not just a well-chosen original piece of jewelry.

You can charge the amulet yourself.

Yes, but, it should be borne in mind that the action of such an object will be several times weaker than the action of an amulet created by an experienced magician. Before you start charging the object, it must be cleaned. To do this, first it is recommended to put the future amulet in salt and place it for 2-3 days in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator, then – rinse with water, then – put one hand on the palm, the second – place above it, and imagine the flow of violet-golden light flowing in into an object and displacing any other energy and information. Further, it is necessary to clearly decide in which situations this thing will act and in all details to present the course and resolution of the situation that you are comfortable with. This chain of events must be presented again and again, increasing the tempo, until the visual images disappear – there will be only a certain feeling, which should be “pumped” into the subject. And experts argue that when there is a feeling that the amulet is already “incapable” of energy – it is necessary to break the resistance that has arisen and continue filling the thing. Only in this case will the amulet be effective.

The amulet should be kept at all times – only in this case it will work.

Most often it is really so. However, some types of amulets are only for a short time, after which they part with them. But this state of things does not weaken, but on the contrary – strengthens the action of the amulet. For example, Martisor (“martenica”) – an amulet made in the form of red and white hearts, little people, balls, beads, flowers, etc., popular on the territory of Moldova, Bulgaria and Romania, on the first day of spring people give each other and are worn only for a month. At the end of this period, the amulet (symbol of spring, fertility, happiness and well-being) is tied to the branch of the fruit tree (preferably flowering), guessing at the same time desire. Such a rite not only promises the fulfillment of desire, but also gives happiness, love and rich harvests. Also mertsisor hang on windows and doors – to protect the house from the evil spirits of winter.

Jewelry, according to our ancestors, had a protective effect, and also served as a certain indicator of social and marital status, nationality, etc.

Yes, it is. Rings from ancient times symbolized a circle, irresistible for evil forces. Therefore, for example, to protect the child from the evil eye and spoilage, a silver ring was thrown into the water for bathing the newborn, to protect against diseases – they put the ring under the pillow. It was also believed that you can return the spouse by looking at him through the wedding ring. But in some cases this decoration served as a symbol of the social status of its owner. For example, in ancient Rome, the slave wore a ring engraved on it by the name of the lord.Free citizens had the right to wear rings of iron, while gold jewelry was only used by senators. Rings decorated with arms and special signs were used as a symbol of power (in ancient Egypt and European countries) and as evidence of belonging to secret societies or monastic orders.

Earrings initially positioned as exclusively male adornment served as a certain sign of belonging to a particular nation (for example, gypsies – the earring in the ear was worn by the only son in the family or the boy born after the death of the previous child), the stratum of the population (in some countries – say, in ancient Israel and Rome – ears pierced the slaves, in others – for example, in Greece and the countries of the East, as well as in Egypt – they were worn only by well-to-do townspeople) or professions. For example, Caesar’s centurions wore earrings in their nipples – it symbolized military valor. Seamen had the right to dress an earring only if they rounded the Cape of Good Hope, pirates – after the capture of the ship. Wore earrings and Cossacks, but not all (for example, the earring in the left ear could only be worn by an only son, in the right one – the last man in the family, etc.). The thieves, by inserting an earring into the ear, showed no fear of the court of the church.

Pretty often earrings served as an indicator of a person’s well-being. In Russia, earrings studded with precious stones could only be worn by members of the princely family, silver jewelry was used by the wives of well-to-do merchants, and commoners were content with products made of wood or copper. Earrings were also attributed to some magical properties. According to the beliefs of Rusich, an earring, donated by a girl, is able to protect a soldier in battle from a stray bullet. A small child (a boy) was put in an earring in the left ear, believing that this could protect him from a hernia. Bracelets (worn on the hands and feet), decorated with bells, rang while walking and every movement, thereby repelling evil spirits.

The Christian church opposed the wearing of amulets.

Officially yes. However, according to written sources, in 1295 there were 15 teeth of fossil sharks in the treasury of the Holy See. Amulets made from such teeth were considered a very effective protection against the evil eye and smallpox. Maltese knights believed that such a tooth, worn on a chain or leather strap, could neutralize poison poured by ill-wishers into food or drink, and attached to the mane of the horse gives the animal a frenzied courage in battle. The higher clergy did not neglect the amulets either. For example, a plate made of brass tinplate engraved with pentagram and spells on it was found on the chest of Archbishop Anselm Franz von W├╝rzburg, who suddenly died in 1749.

Also among the Christians were very popular amulets-coils, on the front side of which depicted the face of one of the saints, and on the purse – the head of the Gorgon, defended from evil forces. Since antiquity, this pagan symbol (“gorgoneon”), sculpted in the form of a mask depicting the head of a woman with snakes instead of hair, was placed on the walls of buildings, household items, shields, armor (elbow pads and knee protectors of the most vulnerable places for the evil forces) and coins, and was a recognized amulet, protecting from evil.

The best choice – amulets, checked in the case.

Yes, but it should be remembered that an amulet is an individual thing, therefore a magical object created for the protection of one person and perfectly manifested in a particular situation may work weaker or not work at all if another person takes possession of it.

Amulets that were in the possession of a seriously ill person, without fail, must first be cleaned, and only after that use.

According to experts, both amulets and usual ornaments, which were on the body of a seriously ill or dying person, can absorb a lot of negative energy, which can then be “shared” with the next owner. Therefore, if you have got a thing in your hands whose history is unknown, or there is information that it belonged to a long-suffering or suddenly died person, it must be cleaned. To do this, it is sufficient to place the object under a stream of running water for several hours, or for a day – in the water, above which the spells necessary in such cases were previously pronounced. It should be remembered that things of a round shape, especially with diamonds, need to be subjected to a longer purification procedure, as they absorb the information about their owner very actively, and later leave with it very reluctantly.
