– a painful, irresistible addiction to drugs, drugs, tablets. The word “addiction” comes from the ancient Greek “narke”, which means “stupor”, “immobility”, “unconsciousness”. The problem of drug addiction can not be considered separately from such shady aspects of a person’s life as prostitution, homosexuality, crime. A new and terrible test for humanity – AIDS – first appeared in a direct connection with drug addiction.
Drug-drugs are given to heavy patients to alleviate their suffering in unbearable pain. But these medicines have a cunning property – the body quickly becomes accustomed to them and begins to demand new doses. At the same time, a person experiences the same torment as with a strong thirst, but even more terrible. Extremely high mortality of children and adolescents from drug poisoning.
Why is this happening? Why do people become addicts? Most likely, because they do not know these terrible consequences, people believe in the myths spread by drug dealers and, as a result, fall into a trap. What kind of deception is the drug?
I will never become a drug addict.
Each of us can be 100% sure that he will never take drugs. But if something goes wrong in your life and at that moment accidentally gets into the company of drug addicts, as all doubts immediately disappear, and you will not refuse to prick or tighten a cigarette with marijuana. Hence the following myth.
I will try the drug only once, and I will not even look at them.
But this is unlikely. First, you need to know that even one, the first dose can be fatal. Maybe this is also the case: you are rumpled, you become better after some kind of life turmoil, and then everything is adjusted in your life. But if there is a nervous breakdown, perhaps even on a love-affair, and let it happen a few years after the first use of the drug, at this point you will necessarily want to drown out the pain of drugs, and at once do not stop there.
A drug addict can live a very long time.
This is not true. It is very rare to meet a chronic drug addict over the age of 30. Most drug addicts start using drugs no later than 20 years, after 1-2 years they are already becoming “chronicles”, i.e. take drugs daily, so these people have very little chance of surviving to 30 years. The situation is complicated by the fact that many drug addicts are HIV-infected or have hepatitis.
If drugs are offered to me, I will have the willpower to refuse.
The fact is that drug dealers are constantly looking for new clients. Therefore, newcomers are offered drugs almost for free, they try to persuade: “Try it, it’s nice, it’s interesting,” provoke: “Drugs are for the brave! You’re not a coward?” Then try. “Drug sellers can deliberately send their man to a teen company. These people in the guise of ordinary teenagers are capable of anything to persuade to try the drug at least once.
I can not buy a drug, even if I want, I do not have that much money.
As mentioned above, the first time a drug is usually offered for free, if you contact them yourself, then next time you will be taken with a small fee or will be given again for your loyalty. And then you will not think that you do not have money for drugs, because first you will sell all the most valuable things in the house, then you will take out of the house what is left in it, and then, most likely, go to steal. What this turns out for you, you can guess yourself.
The drug helps to cope with problems.
On the contrary, you will only have problems. Yes, you can forget about what’s bothering you, but only for a while. After taking the drug, you are in a state of euphoria, the mood improves, but when it “releases” you get into a less pleasant reality, and it gets worse than before.
I will take drugs only when I feel very bad.
And that’s how it just does not work out. The matter is that at first the reception of the drug accompanies the state of “nirvana”, you feel that you are in paradise. After getting used to drugs, a large dose is needed to get this effect. But over time, there comes a time when the drug is no longer accompanied. But you will already be dependent and you will need a drug in order to eliminate the state of aggressiveness, anguish, apathy.
Drugs do not affect a person’s social status.
Actually affect, and even very much. Constant mood swings and reduced efficiency will immediately be noticed by employees and superiors. The probability that you will have to give up work is very high. But even if you are not fired, after a while you will not want to work anymore. In addition, under the influence of the constant impact of narcotic drugs, a person becomes withdrawn, gross, completely lost kinship, minimizes communication with the spouse and children, virtually all cultural and moral values are devalued.
Drugs are used only by “lowered” people.
This is not true. No one is safe from drugs. There are a lot of representatives of serious professions who have become drug addicts. The stars of cinema and music are often addicted to drugs. Drugs can be addicted to those who have achieved so much in life and, therefore, lost its meaning.
Not all drugs are dangerous.
This is a very old and familiar song. Simply, there are strong drugs, and there are weak, as well as alcoholic beverages. But to any extent, any drug is dangerous. Especially, many people who use weak drugs, such as hashish, then go on to receive potent narcotic drugs.
Drugs do not affect the internal organs of a person.
Drugs affect the vital functions of almost all human systems, and our primary target is our brain, which is responsible for the state of the central nervous system, and, consequently, for life expectancy.
Addiction is a pleasant pastime in the company of friends.
This is the most common misconception. Addiction is a disease, and painful and difficult to cure.
This is not a disease, there is nothing to heal from.
Such a statement can often be heard from novice drug addicts. In fact, modern medicine claims that it is precisely a disease in which physiological dependence on a narcotic substance arises. It arises on the biochemical level, the work of the internal organs is disrupted, physical and mental exhaustion occurs. Contrary to popular belief, this can happen to a person with a strong will. Personal qualities do not save, if already “sat on the needle.”
I can part with my habit at any time.
The fact is that if a drug does not come into the organism of a drug addict, then homeostasis is broken (necessary for the work of all organs is the constancy of the internal environment of the body). This is accompanied by a so-called “breaking” (extremely painful physical sensations, impaired breathing, cardiac activity and cerebral circulation). It is very difficult to sustain it. Therefore, self-abandonment of drugs is necessary before dependence appears. If it has already appeared, you need to turn to the help of specialists. But it is almost impossible to “catch” the moment of the emergence of dependence.
I will independently reduce the dose, or from tomorrow I will change the drug (not to get used to) a weak one.
If there is a dependence, then there is very little chance that it will be possible to overcome it independently. Especially such method. Practice shows that the intention to reduce doses or go to a weaker drug remains just a promise.
You can take light drugs, it’s safe …
Drugs that are called “lungs” are no less dangerous than “heavy” drugs. For example, from ecstasy (about this drug below a little more in detail) die, and from “mushrooms” go crazy. There are complications from “grass”. Any objective sociological study confirms that people who use “light” drugs are significantly more likely to get into various unpleasant situations (and with them there are accidents) than those who are avoiding drugs.
And a little more about the “trendy” drug ecstasy, which is considered by modern youth to be safe. Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (or ecstasy) causes a state of excitement and euphoria, acting on the serotonin brain neurons. American neurologists, using the method of positron emission tomography (brain studies), have proved that ecstasy has a toxic effect and destroys serotonin neurons.
14 14 patients were examined who used ecstasy and were dependent on it, and volunteers who never used the drug. When tomography was used, a label specifically accumulated in serotonin neurons. It was found that in patients taking ecstasy, the label accumulated less intensively. The amount of accumulated label was inversely related to the amount of the drug taken.
These studies have shown that the use of ecstasy is unsafe not only because of the induced dependence syndrome, but also because of irreversible structural changes in the brain leading to degradation.
