Height – 27 cm, weight – 460-480 gr.
The entire body of the child is covered with a thin fluff – lanugo (literally translated “wool”). It allows you to keep on the surface of the skin the original lubricant. Usually lanugo completely disappears before birth, but some babies are born with the remains of a cannon on the ears, cheeks, body.
In addition to lanugo, the child has almost real eyelashes and eyebrows, as well as quite adult nails. The kid is actively learning. And the first thing he studies is, of course, his own body. The child learns to bend and unbend the handles and legs, examines the fingers, plays with the umbilical cord, probes the face.
On the fingers instead of the old tactile pads, a soft tissue grows. The sensitivity of this does not diminish, on the contrary, now the fingers become completely human.
The development of internal organs continues. An important place in the system is the liver. Functions of the liver in the fetus and in the newborn are somewhat different. During intrauterine development, the liver engages in the formation of red blood cells, at the last stage of pregnancy it is replaced by bone marrow cells. The liver also participates in metabolic processes, but to a lesser extent than the adrenal glands.
Erythrocytes, which contain special (fetal) hemoglobin, carry oxygen in the child’s body until he begins to breathe independently. The harvested cells are transformed into bilirubin and are excreted through the mother’s placenta and blood. But as soon as the baby makes the first breaths, such red blood cells become completely unnecessary and are destroyed on a global scale.
The kid moves from bilirubin metabolism to his own. The load on the body in the first days after birth significantly increases. The liver in an emergency order forms special enzymes, which help to remove bilirubin from the body, but often it does not have time to cope with such a large volume.
Then the so-called “jaundice of newborns” is observed – the baby turns yellow as if it were real jaundice, however, unlike hepatitis, it is not a disease and after a week or two everything will get better without medication.
The liver will produce enough substances, bilirubin will be removed from the body, and the skin of the baby will acquire its natural color. In preterm infants, jaundice is more common and it is understandable why – the liver is not yet ready for a serious load. It is necessary to worry if the liver and spleen are enlarged with the jaundice, colorless feces and dark urine, and bruises or bruises appear on the baby’s body by itself.
The average weight gain this week is about 6 kg. The height of the bottom of the uterus is 22 cm (2 cm above the navel). The tummy is already quite large, but you can still easily bend over, sit down as you like, and walk for a long time without much difficulty.
In general, a woman’s condition at 6 months of pregnancy is close to our ideal concept of pregnancy. The kid shoves and pleases mums, there is no toxicosis, there are no special emotional problems, while gravity is also not observed. Continuous pleasure!
Despite the fact that in the articles of the previous weeks of pregnancy we talked about many complications that may arise in the future mother, in fact, the vast majority of women manage to endure the child without experiencing serious problems.
But just in case, let’s repeat what symptoms must be paid attention:
– allocation of other fluid from the vagina (water leakage or infectious diseases);
– pain and pain in the abdomen, intense tone of the uterus;
– swelling of the hands, feet, face;
– temperature above 38.7 and chills;
– strong constant vomiting;
– painful urination, pain in the back;
dizziness, darkening of the eyes;
– severe and persistent headache;
– trauma of any origin (fall, collision, impact);
– changes in fetal movements (too frequent or too rare) or their absence.
At 90% we are sure that you did not have any of the above and will not. But who is forewarned is armed.
Since the mother’s state at the twentieth week is very, very stable, many couples decide to use this time for vacation. Of course, we must catch the last opportunity, because after the birth of a child to leave somewhere it will be much more difficult.
When choosing a trip, it is necessary to make it as comfortable and convenient as possible. Do not raft on kayaks or rafts, even on the calmest rivers, do not go to a complex excursion tour all over Europe by bus with night crossings. Your ideal holiday is a quiet hotel, the sea (or any other nature that you like), service at a high level, proximity to medical centers (ie large cities).
Do not forget to arrange for yourself a special extended medical insurance for the duration of the trip, and not an ordinary tourist insurance.
If you fly an airplane, try to provide yourself with the best possible comfort during the flight. On registration it is necessary to ask for a seat either in the head of the aircraft (there is less swaying) or at the partition between the salons (there is more room, you can stretch your legs). If you can afford, fly first class, there is much more relaxed chair. During the flight, at least briefly walk along the aisle and stretch your legs.
One of the most ideal leisure options can be a cruise, especially if you have never suffered from motion sickness. A ship is a huge house where everything is there, but you do not need to go anywhere.
One should only pay attention to the following points:
– the ship should be large and new, and equipped with stabilizers, reducing rolling;
– the cabin is better to choose in the center, there it shakes less;
– the cruise should proceed in calm waters (for example, a quiet coasting in the summer along the coasts of the Mediterranean or the Baltic, or a river cruise along the great rivers – the Yenisei, the Volga, the Danube, the Rhine), it is unnecessary to meet with all winds and storms during pregnancy.
Remember that during pregnancy, do not change the climatic conditions too sharply. Better choose a place in which you do not need to acclimatize for too long.
In any trip you will benefit from good comfortable shoes. About the heels already, alas, have to gradually forget. Now you are interested in ballet shoes, slippers, boats without heels made of soft, breathable material.
Rest is a wonderful way for spouses to spend more time with each other. Moreover, a woman, free from the burden of toxicosis, experiencing a growing sexual desire. Many people say that during this period of pregnancy their sensuality is extremely aggravated, some even experience their first orgasm only when they are pregnant, and multiorganism can also be observed. This is because the blood flow increases and the sensitivity of the erogenous zones increases.
But the men in this period, on the contrary become somewhat constrained. It is difficult for them to get used to the fact that now there is a child inside the woman. Since many dads have even seen their baby on the monitor during ultrasound (20 weeks), now for them the pregnancy of the wife becomes unquestionable.
Previously they, of course, knew about her pregnancy, but somehow detached – because the tummy has not yet grown very much, and the first “photos” of the child was not. Now everything is different, and many fathers subconsciously embarrassed the idea that now “there” is still someone else. There are also fears that sex will not harm a baby.
The answer of doctors is always unambiguous: with normal pregnancy, sex will never hurt. Look at the recommendations for 14 weeks, there you will find those rare conditions when sex is contraindicated. If you do not see anything like this, then you should not worry. The child is well protected by the uterus and the amniotic fluid, therefore it is impossible to injure him with the usual sexual intercourse. If you are still worried, consult a doctor.
