Today, the book is still the best gift, it is true in fashion to give unusual printed works. Ordinary printed products are everywhere superseded by electronic devices.
And those few creators of books who still stayed in this market are trying to attract buyers, including amazing products. We will tell below about ten outstanding polygraphic masterpieces.
The death book.
This creation belongs to the Swiss graphic designer Pierre Mendel. He, realizing that he would soon die, published a short book, which briefly described all his life stages and achievements. At the end of the book, Mendel indicated the day of his death. Surprisingly, it was on this day that the designer died. The very same book is made in the form of a cross, placed on the Swiss flag.
A leaking book.
American writer Jonathan Safran Foer decided to translate hypertext directly into the book. As a result, the light was seen by his creations “Three of Codes”. This book is different in that it is completely holey.
The famous company “Ikea”, who created this unusual product, claims that the best thing is the one that is made at home. As an illustration of his statement, the cookbook “Home made is best” was released. In it, all the recipes are displayed in the form of instructions for assembling the modular furniture of the IKEA itself.
Everyone knows that it is easier for children to learn the world in the form of a game. So why not try to learn the alphabet using the unusual three-dimensional ABC3D alphabet?
Those people who work at the computer are susceptible to tunnel syndrome. It is characteristic of writers. Probably one of such sufferers, created the book “Tunnel Vision”, in which he described the tunnel connecting New York and New Jersey. The book tells about the history of the structure and its present, and it itself decomposes in the form of this underground road.
Three-dimensional books by Benjamin Lacombe.
French artist-illustrator Benjamin Lacombe pleases the fans of his work with the most real three-dimensional books, each of which shows volume miracles. The work of the master is very painstaking, but he has already released his edition of “Alice in Wonderland”, “Madame Butterfly” and “Pinocchio.”
Cookbook, suitable for baking in the oven.
First, the hostess opens her cookbook to make something in the oven. It is from the book that a recipe is taken for a new dish. But in Croatia, the printers decided to mix the components of this process. There was created a cookbook “Well Done”, which you must first bake in the oven. Only then will the recipes of dishes appear on its pages. The book itself is sold in foil, as a semi-finished product.
Wikipedia on paper.
On the Internet, the main encyclopedia is Wikipedia. The number of articles on it long exceeded the number of those in all the other fullest paper encyclopedias. In addition, Wikipedia constantly replenishes, in many ways, the efforts of the users themselves. It would seem that it is simply impossible to create a printed version of such an encyclopedia. But designer Rob Matthews decided otherwise, creating a huge 5000-page volume. It certainly did not include the entire Wikipedia, but only a few tens of thousands of the most visited articles on it, and even then only in the English section. Practical sense in this edition of course not, but an attempt was made to convey the essence of the electronic encyclopedia.
Book, a substitute for a night light.
A book called “Good Ideas Glow in The Dark” is hard to call ordinary. It is more like a night lamp, which is only stylized as a printed edition and intended for placement on a bookshelf. Although there is a place for her on the table. Surprisingly, in this book there is not only the root itself, but also the letters on its cover.
Everyone knows that for spices the best place is special jars in the kitchen. But designer Nick Bampton suggested using an unusual tool for this – a book. Each of its sheets will contain a certain amount of spices. To use them, adding to the dish, you just have to tear off the necessary sheet of an unusual book and throw it into a frying pan or boiling water. Under the influence of temperature and moisture, the sheet will dissolve rapidly. It’s a pity only that the “book” once read can no longer perform its functions.
