Height – from 1,6 to 2,2 cm, weight – about 1 g.
Your baby has grown to the size of a small olive tree and already begins to resemble a real little man. Every minute the child has 100 thousand new nerve cells, they come into contact with each other and form the beginning of the pathways. Five primary brain departments have already been created, although ultrasound shows that the child’s skull is still completely transparent.
The placenta is formed and the umbilical cord leaves from it. The common arterial trunk is divided into the aorta and the pulmonary artery. In the heart there is a second septum, dividing the left and right ventricles. Together with the atrial septum, they create the first valve. Since this time, the blood flow is possible only in one direction – from the right atrium to the left. The heart beat frequency is 112-136 beats per minute.
The rudiments of the gill slits are atrophied. On the handles are the elbow and wrist, on the legs – the knee joint. On the foot the fingers finally formed, and on the hands they became longer. Long tubular bones, axial skeleton and skull gradually ossified. The head of the fetus, jaw, neck is clearly defined. Ears are visible on the head, eyelids almost completely cover the eyes, nostrils are prominent. The place where the genitals are located is clearly visible on the ultrasound, but it is still impossible to determine the sex of the child.
This week, the central lymphatic organ – the thymus (or thymus gland) is laid, the first follicles in the thyroid gland appear, and in addition, the epidermis becomes more complicated – your baby’s skin consists of 2 (!) Layers of cells. The stomach is displaced and takes its place in the abdominal cavity.
The muscular layer of the stomach acquires nerve elements, which will later cause the stomach and intestines to contract for proper passage of food. There are future salivary glands and taste buds, which are associated with nerve cells in the brain stem. Gradually appear muscles of the mouth, pharynx, neck, so that the baby after birth was able to swallow and chew.
In the future spout of the baby there are receptors responsible for the sense of smell. But they will not function for a long time, because the baby can not breathe in the amniotic fluid that surrounds it. Therefore, his nose is still blocked by a slimy plug. The child moves quite actively, although Mom does not yet feel it.
Now is the right time to pay a visit to a doctor and register with a women’s consultation. It is advisable to do this before the 12th week of pregnancy.
You need to take a clean diaper (usual or one-time) with you, and if you or your husband have something to hurt or be ill (tuberculosis, rubella, hepatitis, venereal diseases, diseases of the cardiovascular system, spine, etc.). ), it is advisable to take a medical card or an extract from the doctor who is watching you. Obstetrician-gynecologist should know what treatment is shown to you, in case of any complications, he will be able to determine the optimal way for you to manage pregnancy. Do not forget the medical insurance policy and passport.
At the first appointment, the doctor will fill in a special card for you to include information about your age, height, weight, constitution, whether pregnancy was detected before and when they ended, what diseases you suffered, whether there were pathologies, etc. If you are worried about something, if you have had an unsuccessful pregnancy experience or have other reasons to fear for the normal development of your child, be sure to report it.
The doctor will weigh you, measure the circumference of the waist and hips, hold a gynecological examination. You will take swabs for mycoplasma, ureaplasma, group A streptococcus, gonococcal, syphilis, etc.
If your pregnancy is not yet established, you will be sent to give blood to determine the level of hCG and ultrasound. In addition, the doctor will give you a referral for the following tests:
– a general urine test.
– blood biochemistry (ALT, AST, bilirubin, glucose, GGT creatinine, total calcium, potassium, urea, sodium, OJSS, transferrin, ferritin, alkaline phosphatase) – taken from the vein strictly on an empty stomach;
– blood type and Rh factor, antibodies to the Rh factor (the analysis is always carried out, regardless of whether your blood type is known to you and Rh or not) – is taken from the vein strictly on an empty stomach;
– a clinical blood test – taken from the finger;
– infection analysis (toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex type 1 and 2, parvovirus B19) – taken from the vein strictly on an empty stomach;
– analysis for AIDS and HIV – taken from the vein strictly on an empty stomach;
– the analysis for hepatitis B and C – is taken from the vein strictly on an empty stomach.
The list seems great, but in fact it is enough to donate blood once from the finger and once from the vein. Very often for pregnant women it seems painful to give blood from the veins in the morning and strictly on an empty stomach. If you find it very difficult not to eat in the morning, then in the extreme case you can drink unsweetened tea and eat a cracker. You can not eat sweet, spicy, salty, fatty, drink coffee, especially in large quantities. Such a breakfast can significantly affect the accuracy of the analyzes. Tea and cracker will be reinforced for a couple of hours and you will not inflict a great deal of accuracy. In addition to the tests in the first trimester of pregnancy, you need to undergo an examination with a therapist, dentist, ophthalmologist, endocrinologist, and otolaryngologist.
The following schedule of planned visits to the doctor is as follows:
– at least once every 4 weeks before the 20th week of pregnancy;
– at least once every 2 weeks from the 20th to the 30th week of pregnancy;
– at least once a week from the 30th week of pregnancy until delivery.
However, there is no hard schedule. If you feel unwell, or you are worried about something, then you can go to the doctor at any time. Your uterus began to increase: if before it was the size of a fist, now with a grapefruit.
Favorite things have become a bit cramped in the waist, but there is no sign yet to strangers. This is terribly insulting and inconvenient. Because the toxicosis and dizziness you suffer terribly, and the place in transport is not inferior – because the pregnant tummy is still invisible.
Mood swings can become very noticeable. Try to keep yourself in hand and do not become deformed. Everything is not so bad as you sometimes can imagine. It’s just the reaction of your body to pregnancy.
Your skin can suddenly become covered with pimples or vice versa, become dry and irritated, try the following:
– exclude flour, sweet, fat from your menu;
-drink more water;
– clean the face with a good tonic 2-3 times a day;
– walk more and stay in clear fresh air. You can put in the house a special humidifier, or, at the extreme, just keep a bucket of water in the room;
– If nothing helps, see a doctor. Perhaps this effect is given by vitamins or other medicines that you take in connection with pregnancy. You can try to change the drug.
