(cellulite) – changes in the structure of the subcutaneous fat layer, the result of which is a violation of microcirculation and lymphatic drainage. They are characterized by stagnant phenomena in adipose tissue, which lead to its dystrophy. The most common cause of cellulite are such factors: disbalance in the hormonal system of the body, poor blood circulation, agitation and stress, bad habits, poor quality fatty foods, low-quality cosmetics. Many doctors do not consider cellulite a disease, medical experts use “gynoid lipodystrophy” instead of the term “cellulite”. In addition, in medicine there is the term cellulitis, which is used to denote purulent inflammation of the subcutaneous tissue.
It is not surprising that such obvious disagreements among doctors, supported by a large number of rumors, sometimes untrue, gave rise to a lot of misconceptions and myths about cellulite. We will try to separate the truth from fiction.
Cellulitis occurs only in fat women.
This is not quite true. Indeed, in full women, cellulite is more pronounced and becomes more noticeable with age than in lean ones. At the same time, some slender women may have cellulite, and some bbws often have fine elastic skin. The appearance of cellulite can most often provoke sudden fluctuations in weight (fattened – lost weight), most often taking place in those women who, in pursuit of an ideal figure, constantly “sit on a diet.”
Cellulitis can appear only after 30 years, young it does not threaten.
In fact, almost every representative of the weaker sex at the age of 18 already observed cellulite phenomena to a greater or lesser extent. Due to the good tone of the skin, in youth, its manifestations are not so noticeable. However, with age, the skin loses its elasticity and – here it is cellulite, in all its glory. This process depends on the genetic predisposition and can occur at different rates (someone has cellulite manifested in 20 years, someone has 30, and someone – only after 40 years).
Some women are free from this problem – for example, Asian women do not have cellulite.
Cellulitis at an early stage is not a disease, but rather a physiological norm, conditioned by the characteristic for women structure of the subcutaneous adipose tissue. The fact is that connective tissue septums, dividing the adipose tissue into lobules, are located almost perpendicular to the surface of the skin. Therefore, with an increase in the volume of fat cells, the relief of the skin changes: dimples and tubercles appear. This effect is typical for women of any race, but in representatives of some nationalities (especially among Asian women) it is less noticeable due to constitutional features (asthenic type of build), food culture (seafood, plenty of vegetables, fruits, green tea and other products that strengthen connective fibers of tissues). Yes, and dark skin color contribute to the fact that some women almost do not see cellulite for an outside observer.
Predisposition to cellulite is not inherited.
Unfortunately, this is not so – one of the main reasons for the appearance of cellulite is precisely the genetic predisposition.
Taking oral contraceptives can help get rid of cellulite.
Absolutely mistaken opinion. It is the intake of oral contraceptives that contribute to a more pronounced manifestation of cellulite. The fact is that these drugs increase the level of estrogen, relaxing the muscles of blood vessels. As a result, the vascular permeability increases, and consequently, the fluid outlet into the interstitial space. In addition, estrogens contribute to the retention of water in tissues and reduce the utilization of fat in the body.
If you do not drink a lot of water – there will not be cellulite.
This is a completely wrong opinion. The fact is that the distribution of fluid in the body plays a huge role in the development of cellulite. In the human body there is an intensive exchange of fluid between the blood vessels and tissues. If microcirculation is disturbed, stagnant phenomena that promote the appearance of cellulite begin. In addition, water provides the conditions for normal body work, removes toxins and other harmful substances. That lack of water can be one of the causes of cellulite.
Pilling and wrapping do not help get rid of cellulite.
This is not true. Wraps (especially in combination with massage, hardware methods of cellulite treatment, such as ultrasound, LPG-endermology, pressotherapy, electrolypolysis) give a good result. It should be remembered that the most effective wrap on the basis of brown seaweed.
Peeling is used for pre-treatment of the skin (purification of pores, removal of horny scales). You can use coffee grounds (for thin, sensitive skin), sea salt (for normal skin). It should be remembered that more than twice a week to do peeling is not recommended.
Completely eliminating carbohydrates from the diet, you can get rid of cellulite.
The diet is really very important, but in order to get rid of cellulite, it is not enough just to exclude some foods from the diet. It is best to give preference to a balanced diet with mandatory consumption of raw vegetables, herbs, legumes, fruits, wholemeal bread, cereals, fish, seafood, vegetable oil. It should be remembered that the formation of cellulite contributes to the use of fried foods (especially fatty roast meat), poultry with skin, sausages and smoked products, pickles and marinades, muffins, confectionery, fatty dairy products. Some of the products, food additives (dyes, flavors and taste simulators) can also provoke the appearance of cellulite.
Harmful habits of cellulite do not affect.
This is not true. For example, smoking promotes the formation of cellulite. After all, nicotine destroys vitamin C, which maintains the normal condition of the skin and connective tissues. In addition, it causes spasm of capillaries, which leads to a violation of microcirculation, deterioration of metabolism at the cellular level and fluid retention in tissues.
You can give up the instructions of a dermatologist, prescribing to treat cellulite – it’s not a disease.
It should be noted that in dermatology the term “cellulite” refers to a deep inflammatory lesion of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, most often localized in the lower extremities, but sometimes developing in other body occupations. Signs of the disease – redness of the skin (erythema), swelling of the tissues, pain. In cosmetology, the same term is also used (albeit incorrectly) for naming the natural feature inherent in the female body. More precise terms: liposclerosis, localized hydrolypodystrophy. Therefore, if a dermatologist recommends you to treat cellulite – this should be addressed urgently.
Liposuction can once and for all rid of cellulite.
This is not quite true. Liposuction can help get rid of fat, but this surgery will not save you from cellulite. Although the removal of most of the fat cells, the remaining adipocytes can not reproduce the same volume of adipose tissue, liposuction does not guarantee that cellulite will not develop in neighboring zones.
